It
is advisable to print out the Clipstream
Video Technical Guide document for easy reference while encoding.
In the case that the preset settings are not preferable, the Clipstream
Video
Plug-in settings can be manually configured to adjust to the exact
desired specifications. Please follow the recommendations below
for more detailed information on how the settings interact.
Adjusting Plug-in Settings
There are many
factors to consider when selecting custom settings or deciding to
load one of the pre-set Clipstream Video™
Premiere Plug-in settings. The ability to play a movie smoothly
may need to be compromised to allow playback across a variety of
connections. Uploading and testing may need to be performed more
than once in order to arrive at an acceptable video for various
connection speeds.

Audio
Settings:
When creating
a Clipstream Video movie, the audio settings must be selected
with the video quality in mind. If the decision is to select better
quality audio, the quality of the video will need to be slightly
adjusted accordingly. In general, the audio settings in the pre-set
settings files (and in the table below) are appropriate for the
related speeds.
- Set the
rate to 8000 Hz
- Enhanced
Rate Conversion; Be
sure to always select 'Best' from the pull down window. Otherwise,
the result will be poor audio quality with a lot of ringing,
hiss, etc. Also note: there is a bug in Premiere whereas it
will not use the new setting after a movie has already been
exported without Best selected. Premiere must be restarted and
the setting changed to 'Best' if something such as 'Good' was
previously selected. View
a Screenshot.
- Click Advanced.
Select the Audio Data rate and Optimization. If the file has
speaking in it, it is advisable to try 'Voice'. Voice may not
provide good results at lower bit rates (8-12)
-After
configuring advanced
audio settings (click to view), Premiere 5.x
will crash during the next usage (due to a bug in Premiere)
unless the preference file prem50.prf is deleted before
restarting. Remove
the Preference file Prem50.prf (click to view)
before launching Premiere again to resolve the problem and
avoid a crash. Default path: {C:\program files\adobe\Prem50.prf}.
***This problem has been resolved in Premiere 6.0. We strongly
recommmend that users of Premiere 5.xx upgrade to Premiere 6.0.
- Connection
Speed minus audio data rate divided by 8 equals data rate.
Therefore, data rates should coincide with each other (example:
for a 56k sample, if the audio data rate has been set at 16,
the data rate should be set to 4)

some general guidelines for Audio settings at various speeds:

Processing. Click modify.
- Premiere
has a few features that will be found useful during Clipstream
Video Encoding. First note that 'Better Resize' should be selected.
- In some
cases, it is also necessary to check the box at 'Deinterlace'.
- In the
case that the video is too dark or too light, the gamma can
be adjusted. (use the preview screen to determine desired brightness)
Note that adjusting gamma can affect the ultimate image quality.
- There is
a preview screen with a seek bar at the top of this dialog that
allows you to view your video file here. Adjust the various
settings there to crop unnecessary and unwanted pixels from
the file.
9. Click okay
and then Save after double-checking your settings. Save your Clipstream
Video file as *.vcs to the desired folder.
