Frame Rate Demonstration
Here are a series of video samples that have similar settings. Note the range of qualities achievable at different frame rates within the same bitrate. This page is a high-speed demo requiring a connection speed of 650 kbps or higher. Viewers at lower speeds will cache the files for a buffer-free second playback.

To reduce CPU load, lower dimensions and quality settings are generally recommended for higher frame rates.

As the frame rates rise, the CPU requirement is also more demanding so the viewer may experience poor playback or a browser freeze. Browsers using the Microsoft JVM will run slightly more efficiently than those with Sun Java.

CPU load and file size (bitrate) are limiting factors. To work with higher frame rates, here are some strategies for smooth playback:
  • lower the quality range
  • lower the dimensions
  • increase the bit rate
  • work in factors of the source file frame rate
