Creating your own batch file (.ini)
Edit the default .ini file included with the Clipstream Video Encoder to create a custom batch encode.

Encoding a batch
Before you edit the .ini file, see how it works on our Batch Encoding (GUI) page.

Find and open the .ini file
A fresh install of the Clipstream™ Video Encoder will place the a text file called the VCSEncoder.ini into the same folder where you installed the Encoder.

The default installation path is: c:/program files/Clipstream/Clipstream Video Encoder/
  1. Open up the program files folder where Clipstream™ Video resides.

You should see the VCSEncoder.ini file.

Note: if you do not see this file, please make sure that in your Folder Options / View that "Hide extensions for known file types" is un-checked.

  2. Make sure that the Clipstream™ Video Encoder is not running. Close it if it is.

Note: The Encoder will overwrite the .ini file if it is running.
  3. Open the file using Notepad or other text editor.
Adjust a preset
The different bit rates that show up in the batch are defined in the .ini file under the seconds called [PRESETS]. They will show up under [PRESET_1] ... [PRESET_2]...etc.

The table below describes what each line means under the PRESETS:

PRESETS

Name Description Syntax
label The name that shows up in the drop down menu

ex. 28k Modem
ex. Broadband

width Width of the output clip Number in pixels
ex. width=160

total_bitrate The target bit rate of this present video in kilobits per second (kbps) ex. total_bitrate=500
framerate How many frames per second ex. 24.0
= 24 frames per second

target_image_quality The maximum quality target Number from 2-100.
Must be a larger number than the minimum image quality.
ex. target_image_quality=40

min_image_quality The minimum quality target Number from 1-99
Must be a smaller number than the maximum image quality.
ex. min_image_quality=40

audio_bitrate Audio quality bit rate 0-32
ex. audio_bitrate=16
32 is the top range of Java mono audio

To change the settings:
  1. Use a text editor to edit each line of the PRESET you want to change.
  2. Save the .ini file under the same name.
  3. Close the .ini file.
  4. Launch the Clipstream™ Video Encoder.
  5. Click on the Suggested settings dropdown.

Your changes should be reflected in the list of bit rates.
