Clipstream™ Audio - record your audio using Clipstream™ AudioMail

If you are qualified to operate a telephone, you are capable of easily creating some Clipstream Audio voice messages. In many circumstances, the recording of a source file to get on a site is financially and/or logistically difficult. For a designer that needs to get some testimonials, a corporate message, or any other voice recording onto a website, Clipstream AudioMail is a convenient solution.

Creating a Clipstream AudioMail

To create a Clipstream Audio clip with Clipstream AudioMail, first create an audiomail account. Clipstream AudioMail is found here:
http://clipstream.com/products/audio/audiomail.shtml

Registration is quick and easy through this link, also found on the main page:
http://www.clipstream.com/ivr/register.shtml

Moments after registration, you will receive an email from the system. Click here to log in:
http://www.clipstream.com/ivr/login.shtml

After logging in, this message will be displayed on the log in page:
Call (604)-609-0185, enter your user ID# when prompted, enter the number of times you would like the AudioMail to be played.
It is basically that easy to create the Clipstream. Also find more information in the Clipstream AudioMail PDF.

The number of times the clip is to be played is configurable in the 'View Account' section. The number of playbacks is not relevant if you are planning to capture your audiomail for website usage. Playback # is a Clipstream AudioMail restriction and will not affect the clip once it is on your website.

If you are looking to use Clipstream Audiomail for third party recording (ie: you would like someone to record a message that you are going to put on a web site) all you need to do for your client is:
-provide them the phone number: 1-604-609-0185
-tell them to enter the ID that you provide them
-instruct them to record their message as clearly as possible (cel phones or pay phones are probably a bad idea)

The system will email you with the clip once it is approved. It is then ready to be captured and placed into the appropriate location on your website.

Capturing the Clipstream AudioMail

To get the audiomail into your website, you will need:
-some basic knowledge of html
-a Clipstream Audio License
-the audioclipstream.zip file

1) Log in and click on the 'View Account' section.
2) Select 'Listen' for the Clipstream AudioMail that you would like to use
3) View->Source in your browser. You'll see the html for that page.
4) In the html, search for the Clipstream applet code.
5) In the applet code, you'll see the audio parameter: param name='AudioStreamURL'
6) The value of that parameter is the Clipstream files without extensions.
7) Copy the value of the AudioStreamURL and paste it into the browser address bar. Add the extension .22 to that value and download the file.
8) Repeat step 7 but add the extension .44 this time to download the higher speed file.
9) Rename the *.22 file with the extension *.20 and rename the *.44 file with the extension *.32. The file name can be renamed as well but be sure to name them the same, other than the extension.
10) Upload your files to your website, along with the audioclipstream.zip file.
11) Add some corresponding applet code to your html. Use the applet code generator and/or the list of available parameters.
