  • How do I set my clipstream  to loop?
  • I've lost my key. How do I find my authorization key?
  • People have visited my page and say that they can't hear anything. What could be wrong?
  • Is there a way to have multiple clipstreams available to be played such as for a list of samples on an LP?
  • I just upgraded to Netscape 6 and I can't hear Clipstream. What's wrong?
  • Why won't the seek bar work on my Clipstream Audio clip?

If you would like to enable seek for your clip(s) but haven't done it yet, go to the logo on the top left of the Clipstream Audio Encoder and enter the advanced options menu. Check the box beside "Enable Random Access (create index files)" Then when you encode, the 1 KB index files (*.20i and *.32i) will be created along with your Clipstream files. Just upload them as well as the audio and the seeking will work.

What applications can I use to create or convert sounds in a .wav format?

Windows Sound Recorder that comes with Win95, 98, NT and 2000 will record from a microphone and save in a .wav format if you just want to present a voice sample such as an introductory message. With a program like CoolEdit you can record, mix, filter and convert sounds from various formats. There are also shareware programs available.

What is the difference between .20 and .32 versions of the audio file?

The .20 is a 20kbps quality file while the .32 is a 32kbps file. Having the two versions allows visitors to your web page with varying connection speeds to hear your sounds played the appropriate connection speed. By having two versions, visitors with low bandwidth will be able to hear your sounds produced at 20kbps while visitors with high bandwidth will hear the 32kbps version. A modem can handle 20 000 bits per second (20kbps) of data but ISDN, cable, or higher can handle over 32 000 kbit (32kbps). Clipstream automatically interprets which version to play. Listeners with an ISDN connection or better will receive the best stream.

How do I set my Clipstream to play automatically?

In the Clipstream generation page, make sure that the AutoPlay parameter is checked 'yes'. The value in the applet code will be "true".

How do I set my Clipstream to loop?

In the Clipstream generation page, make sure that Auto Loop is checked 'yes'. The value in the applet code will be "true"

I've lost my key. How do I find my Clipstream code key?

Destiny keeps a list of all code keys. Please contact the sales representative who provided it to you originally for prompt assistance or use this email form.

People have visited my page and say that they can't hear anything. What could be wrong?

You should make sure that people who visit your page have Java enabled in their browsers. Anyone with a browser that is v.3.0 and higher should have it on by default. Refer your users to this page to help them enable their Java. You should also test everything you create after it has been uploaded.

Is there a way to have multiple Clipstreams available to be played such as for a list of samples on an LP? Can I put these on one applet?

Absolutely. All you need to do is upload different .20 and .32  for each of the clips and make sure you have separate applet code generated for each and pasted into your page. Make sure that AutoPlay is used responsibly.(one or two clips at a time) If too many clips play at once, some of your listeners' sound cards will get an error and/or your listener will get a headache!
To play a list in one applet, simply list your AudioStreamURLs by number and reference the audio files in the order you'd like them to play.

I just upgraded to Netscape 6.0 and now I can't hear Clipstream. What's wrong?

The latest version of Clipstream Audio is fully supported by Netscape 6. Because earlier versions of Clipstream were released prior to the release of Netscape 6, there is no support. Be sure to upgrade to the latest version of Clipstream Audio.
***Netscape 6 users: ensure you have the latest version of Java; check here!
