Follow the steps in this page
to encode for the first time using the Clipstream™ Video 3 Encoder.
Download and install
If you haven't already, please download and install the Encoder.
Start up
Find and launch the
Clipstream™ Video 3 Encoder.
1. Go to your
Start menu. 2.
Point to
All Programs > Clipstream > Clipstream™ Video Encoder
> Clipstream™ Video Encoder.
The Encoder will launch.
3. Click
OK.
The
Clipstream™ Video 3 Main Window will appear.
Brief description of the Main Window
The
Clipstream™ Video 3 Main Window contains
most of the functions you will need to encode a Clipstream™ Video (.vcs)
streaming file. From this window you can choose the file to encode, select the
location to encode it to, change the dimensions, frame rate, audio quality or
access advanced settings.
Encode a sample video step-by-step
Follow these steps to encode the included sample video in several default
bit rates (batch).
1. Click on the
Browse button.
2. On your hard
drive, browse to any .avi, .mov, .wmv or other existing digital movie file to
encode. Double-click on it.
The movie and its file path will now appear in the
Source Video
Filename field in the Main Window.
3. Choose
a location on your hard drive (or server) where you want the encoded (.vcs) files
to be saved. Click
Output File.
In the save dialog,
select a location.
4. Type in a filename. Call it "test" (or a name of
your choosing) and click
Save.
The target filename
and its location now appears in the
Output Video Folder/Filename
field.
5. Point to the "Please choose setting" drop-down menu. Select "Mini Batch Encoding"
or at the bottom of the list, "Batch Encoding" to encode all of the
suggested bit rates for the video (44kbps, 128kbps, 256kbps, 460kbps and 750kbps).
6. Make sure
Generate JS/HTML page when finished encoding
is checked.
7. Click the
Encode button.
The
Encoding window
will appear showing the progress of the encode.
As it progresses you will be able to see the statistics on the encode
in a scrolling field. When it is finished the results will be displayed in the
field including a Histogram showing the quality results statistically.
Click
OK after you have finished reviewing it.
View
the encode
1. Navigate to the folder which you chose to save your encoded
file to. Open it.
You will see a series of files that were generated by the Encoder including
an .html page that has the same name as your source movie file.
2. Open the
.html page.
3. To play the video, click anywhere on the
video frame or click
the
flashing play button.
The video will play.
